Tesco as destination for food exports from Ireland

At Tesco, we are very proud of our support of the Irish food industry.
This support extends from small local suppliers to larger companies
who supply their produce to our stores across the world. A recent
independent report by Indecon Economic Consultants has found that
Tesco internationally is the second biggest destination for Irish food
ahead of the US, Germany or France purchasing €705.8 million worth of
Irish food annually. This figure represents 9% of all food and drink
exports from Ireland and means that Tesco is the second biggest
destination for Irish food exports ahead of France, Germany or the US.
The report also found that Tesco’s contribution to the Irish economy
is worth €2.7 billion annually.

Kenny v Adams

Irrespective who is Taoiseach, I advise them not to discuss economics
with the voodoos from Sinn Fein. Adams has ample opportunity to debate
these issues across the flood at Dail Eireann. Let Brian Hayes debate
with Adams if he wants but the 10 page document does not need the
Taoiseach to head down bye-roads of irrelevancy with the great
obfuscator. On Wednesday night on COLEMAN, I firmly advised the
Taoiseach not to go to VB to ‘debate’ the treaty. Being too frank on
the issues currently being discussed behind closed doors is not in the
country’s interest right now. Most of the details are blindingly
obvious.

Mary O’Rourke still batting on

This lady has made a big national contribution. On Telecom Eireann she
got it wrong but so did the know-alls in the press. She has a large
dollop of common sense and like her late brother has a high end IQ. So
the bloggers in Dave Cochrane’s organ will just have to put up with
her on RTE etc. Abuse of Mary O’Rourke reflects malodorously on the
abusers. Anonymous mental masturbators! Ambidextrous as well.

Olivia Mitchell – Fair does.

Common sense has broken out in Fine Gael. Olivia Mitchell was left
alone as she WAS not corrupt in accepting €500 from Frank Dunlop in
the circumstances considered by the Mahon Tribunal. Just because a
judge opines does not ensure carte blanche for wisdom or justice. That
is what Appeal courts are about!

Motion expressing concern over cuts to care allowance defeated

A private members motion expressing concern about cuts to the
domiciliary care allowance and the effect on people with disabilities
has been defeated in the Dáil by 81 votes to 41.

The Independent TD Catherine Murphy, who tabled the motion on behalf
of the technical group, said there was evidence that children with
autism or other intellectual disabilities were being targeted for
payment reviews.

But the Social Protection Minister Joan Burton rejected this – she
said that spending on the domiciliary care allowance had actually
increased and an additional 3,000 children were granted the payment
since 2009.

The Reilly File – Comments on THE meeting.

At the meeting with Dr James Reilly with the other three HSE Forum
Chairmen, I was surprised by Dr Reilly. He was obviously right on top
of his subject. He was articulate and coherent in philosophy, outlook,
intentions and plans.
