No to Tesco exploitation.

In this recession, there is a special responsibility to guard against worker exploitation and bullying by profitable employers. Tesco is a retail and distribution company that makes relatively disproportionate profits in the republic compared to the UK. In february 2009, the workers in Finglas were due to receive a 3.5% wage increase. This has not been paid. The staff have been offered the money in exchange for ceding their 8 week sick leave rights, day off on 27th December and Good friday; overtime payments down from time+1/2 to time+1/4: and night shift payments down from time plus 1/3 to time plus 1/4. Bill Tormey deplores this sort of attitude by management and will highlight exploitation in the workplace when told about it.
