BOD100 – Greatest Irish Sportsman Ever

Brian O’Driscoll hits 100 for Ireland against Wales at Croke Park in March 2010.  This man is the greatest player we ever had in this country.  He’s the Tina Turner figure of Irish Sport – He’s simply the best, better than all the rest.  He takes good care of the mascots on his 100 cap appearance – a gentleman and an icon.  Its in his breeding – wonderful people the O’Driscolls.

Karl Mullen, Jack Kyle, Willie John McBride, Tom Kiernan, Cameron Henderson, Michael Gibson, Fergus Slattery, Ollie Campbell, Keith Wood, Paul O’Connell and the rest.  Like Collopy festooned with Saxons, it is a great pity James Joyce could not witness this man.  He would be a feature of Ulysses 11.  In other sports, George Best, Paul McGrath, Roy Keane, John Giles, Liam Brady, Pat Jennings, Con Martin from soccer come to mind as do Ron Delaney, Eamonn Coghlan, John Treacy, Sonia O’Sullivan, Pat O’Callaghan from athletics, Barry McGuigan, Fred Gilroy, Steve Collins from boxing, Eddie Kehir, Christy Ring, DJ Carey, Henry Sheflin, Macken and Maher and the Rackards from hurling, Mick O’Connell, Kevin Heffernan, Jack O’Shea from football, Fred Daly, Christy O’Connor, Padraig Harrington and a host of others in golf etc etc

BOD is number 1

His team have given the country huge pleasure since 2000.  This truly has been the golden age of Irish rugby Grand slam 2009 and the Triple Crown in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009 and ? Brian captained the Lions to New Zealand and Paul O’Connell was captain in South Africa.
