FETEC 5 Certs for Youth Work RECO Ballymun
There is great emphysis on Youth Work in Ballymun and BRYR is the main service centre at the RECO beside the Church in Silloge. There are Youth Work courses there up to degree level. On 24th March, the Lord Mayor Emer Costello was on hand to present the certificates to the graduates of the FETEC 5 course which is at Honours Leaving cert level. Both Denise FitzPatrick and Proinsias O’Conghaile made speeches outling the benefits of the course and the change in attitudes and experiences gained while students. It had been 40 years since Prionsias was in previous formal education. He is well known because of his association with Setanta GAA club. The Chief Executive of BRYR is Donnacha Hurley and Brian mongey of Dublin City Council was master of ceremonies. Martin Quilty explained the reasons for the course and the role of FETEC and education accreditation in a very clear concise fashion. Some of the people involved are shown in the photographs. The course coordinator and leader is Laurance van der Hagen.
