- Average family farm income was €11,968
- Less than 10% have incomes > €25,000
- Only 6.3% have incomes >€40,000
- Overall reduction in farm incomes since 2007 is 40%
- 14% drop in value of farm output
- Costs reduced by 7%
- Specialist dairy farms reduced output by 23.6%
- Tillage farm output down by 12.6%
- There was a 30% drop in milk prices
- Family Farm Income (FFI) average on tillage farms was €15,247
- Part time farms FFI average was €6,611
- Direct payments to farms totalled €17,109 per farm compared to €17,4667 in 2008.
- 48% of farms had a farming income of <€6,500 and on 39% the farmer had an off- farm job.
- In 52.6% of all farms, the farmer or spouse had an off farm job
- Some source of off-farm income – employment, pension or social assistance was available to 79% of farm families.
