Croke Park – Positive role in the Community
I support Croke Park as a major national asset. I think it should be designated the National Stadium in negotiation with the GAA. The new Lansdowne Road is too small and inappropriate as a development because it cannot handle a GAA match due to the size of the pitch and isnt big enough to cater for rugby despite the laughable claims of the IRFU officials. On Saturday the kids from Clane and Carlow were playing minis at half-time in the RDS. How many of them will see Ireland at Lansdowne? I think that Bertie Ahern holds a big responsibility for the current hugely unsatisfactory state of affairs. Rugby fans are being priced out at Lansdowne and Croke Park is being underused. The Bertie Bowl Folly at Abbotstown was just that as was the purposeful timing of the €20 million to Croke Park accompanied by the nod and wink which had the effect of forcing the Lansdowne project in its current form.
Anyway, certain residents near the stadium love to be awkward. The stadium has done quite a lot locally as you can see from the recent update carried here. Well done to Croke Park.
