New Primary Care Centre for Cavan

The HSE is pleased to announce the development of a new purpose built Primary Care Centre at Loughtee Business Park at Drumalee, Cavan, which will deliver health and social care services to the local population in Cavan and surrounding areas.

The 21,500 square foot centre is currently being fitted out by contractors and once completed it will accommodate a Primary Care Team which will provide a range of health and social care services including GP, Public Health Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology, Dentistry and Social Work services. A range of outreach consulting services will also be provided from the centre as well as a Community Mental Health Team and a Day Hospital for Cavan. Dr. Eamon McDwyer and Dr. Nigel McKenna will be locating their practices in this centre. These services will be in place and open to the public in the next six months.

The Primary Care Centre is located adjacent to the existing HSE Child and Family Care Unit, Drumalee Supervalu, Valu Plus Pharmacy and a number of remaining complementary retail units and it is served by 180 car parking spaces located both on the surface and underground.

Cavan Primary Care Centre is being developed through the Primary Care Infrastructure Initiative Scheme which is currently being rolled out by the HSE. The HSE sought submissions from individuals/companies who were interested in developing health facilities which would accommodate the delivery of primary health care in conjunction with local GPs. This building in Cavan will be one of the first new Primary Care Team Centres to be provided in the North East Area via this mechanism.
