Dublin City Council on Senator David Norris

The vote in Dublin City Council on Senator David Norris and the
nomination for the presidency was interesting. The dye was cast when
Michael D Higgins urged Labour Party councillors to ensure the
nomination at the meeting. The result was 30 for Norris, 11
abstentions and 6 against. Of that six, I remember myself, Naoise
O’Muiri, Ruairi McGinley, Nial Ring, Damian O’Farrell plus one. The
hilarious point on the RTE 9 TV News was Gerry Doughnut Breen
disgorging from the gold cannister with Senator Norris. I was
impressed by the speech of Damian O’Farrell on the central issue of
suitability. Ditto Naoise.

To be consistent, the Fine Gael group
leader should have voted against to back the Fine Gael candidate. Even
if the so-called savants advised otherwise, when Michael Ds made his
naked grab fror transfers from the Norrisistas, the FG group leader
should have voted against to back Gay Mitchell.

Other Labour people were hilarious in their verbal sophistry.

Will Michael D. Higgins fall into a self-generated Beechers Brook of
his own political making? La\bour miss Humphries in DCC. Would Dick
Spring have done that? No!
