Biochemistry at Dundalk transferred to Drogheda Clinic and University Hospital

From Monday, 23rd January, 2012 all biochemistry tests from Louth
County Hospital (LCH) will be processed in the laboratory in Our Lady
of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda (OLOL).

Biochemistry samples will continue to be accepted in the lab in LCH
and will be sent to the lab in OLOL for processing.

Test results will issue directly from the lab in OLOL.

Management have notified staff in LCH and GPs of this change in service

The number of Biochemistry tests in 2011 was 663,936.

The reason for moving the service is due to the shortage of an
appropriately qualified Senior Medical Scientist

One agency staff was transferred along with one permanent member of
staff whose substantive post is in OLOL.
