Tobacco Control Tyranny (OTTness)

Louth Meath Hospital Group are working towards the introduction of
Tobacco Free Campuses at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Louth
County Hospital, Dundalk and Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan from 22nd
February, 2012. To support the implementation of this policy a series
of educational initiatives are being rolled out including consultation
sessions and education forums for staff, information leaflets,
displays within the hospital to inform all staff and visitors to the
hospital of this policy and to explain the help and support that is
available.

As the leading healthcare provider the HSE is committed to reducing
the use of tobacco and its harmful health effects. As the national
body responsible for health promotion, health protection and
prevention of illnesses and disease, the HSE has adopted the National
Tobacco Control Framework which states that all HSE campuses will
become tobacco free by December 2015. Connolly Hospital
Blanchardstown, the Mater Hospital, Cork University Hospital and St.
Vincent’s Hospital are already operating tobacco free campuses.
