Response re. X-rays at Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group Management in Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group can confirm that all patients’ x-rays are reported on based on clinical priority as decided by a Consultant Radiologist. All urgent and emergency x-rays are reported on in a safe timeframe in both Cavan and Monaghan Hospitals.
Management in Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group can confirm that there are a number of routine X-rays which are yet to be reported on. These are all routine, Out-patient X-rays. The Hospital Group have been unable to source sufficient Locum Consultant Radiologists over the last number of weeks, to cover staff leave and vacancies in the Radiology Department. This has led to a delay of on average 5 weeks for the reporting of routinenon-urgent x-rays at Cavan General and Monaghan Hospital. Management in Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group can provide assurance that there are adequate controls in place to maintain a safe diagnostic imaging service within a robust Quality and Risk Management Framework. To address this backlog, Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group Management have negotiated with other hospitals in Dublin North East and have successfully allocated additional resources, during out of hours as well as at weekends, to ensure that the outstanding x-rays will be reported on within the next two weeks. Any patient who has concerns regarding a report on an X-ray at this time should contact Evelyn Hall, Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group, Tel 049 4376033 or 087 2404355.
