Positive Ageing Week 2012 at Ballymun

Positive Ageing Week takes place from 28th September to 6th October,
2012. This is run by Age Action Ireland and aims to highlight the
positive aspects of ageing and celebrates the contribution older
people have made and continue to make to their communities.

The central aim of Positive Ageing Week is to dispel the many negative
perceptions that surround ageing and to transform attitudes towards
ageing and older people. Age Action coordinates Positive Ageing Week
and organises a small number of events. All other events and
activities are organised by active retirement groups, local voluntary
groups, nursing homes, libraries, commercial organisations and
individual older people themselves.

To mark Positive Ageing Week, the HSE Primary Health Care Providers
and Dublin City Council fitness instructors will deliver a free
fitness testing and activity advice session to anyone aged 55 or older
on Tuesday, 2nd October between 10:30am and 1:30pm in the Civic
Centre, Main Street, Ballymun. No appointment is necessary and
everyone is welcome to attend.
