Finglas Village Renewal

At the invitation of the chairperson, Mr. Paul Keegan, Tolka Area
Partnership, gave a short update on the village renewal during which
he discussed the new weekly market in Finglas village. Over 1,500
people attended on the first day. Attendance has dropped to about 400
on each of the two subsequent Fridays. He said that the location (in
Molloy’s car park) was not ideal and that there were issues concerning
objections from some village traders to certain types of stalls. In
his opinion the market in its present location would not survive.

Following a discussion on the matter, the following Motion was
adopted: That this Committee ask the Area Management to explore and
use their best judgement to move the market immediately. If at all
possible our preference would be to relocate the market to the
Drogheda Mall Shopping Centre.
