Ballymun and Finglas Shopping Centres

Question to City Manager City Council Meeting 05/11/2012

Q32. COUNCILLOR BILL TORMEY:

“Could the City Manager outline the policy decision tree analysis for
the sites of the Ballymun and Finglas Shopping Centres?”

CITY MANAGER’S REPLY:

“BALLYMUN

NAMA has appointed Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) as receivers over
Ballymun Shopping Centre (BSCL). BSCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Treasury Holdings Ltd. now in liquidation. The City Council, in its
capacity as lessor of the centre and a party to a revenue sharing
agreement with BSCL, is working in partnership with PWC regarding
short-term issues i.e. the condition of the centre and the vacancy
levels. Both parties are also committed to explore options for the
medium to long-term future of the centre. A study of the shopping
offering in Ballymun has been carried out by BRL Planning team and
will assist in the decision-making process.

FINGLAS

Unlike Ballymun Shopping Centre, the City Council has no direct
involvement in Finglas Shopping Centre and is not in a position to
influence matters to the same extent. The Centre is currently for
sale.”
