Christy Burke on the Mews NCR

Question:

“To ask the C.E.O how many clients attend the Mews Drug Treatment Centre, North Circular Road, Dublin 7 and what catchment area do the clients reside from, as residents in the area say there is an increase in client numbers attending the Mews Centre.”

Cllr. Christy Burke

Response:

The number of clients attending the Mews Clinic as of 1st May 2013 is 140. Of these patients 81 patients were from the Mews catchment area (approx 60%) and 59 patients were from outside the area (approx 40%).

These patients came from areas such as Cabra, Finglas, Blanchardstown and Homeless Units etc., which is typical of our population who can change accommodation address often. Patients who move outside the catchment area of the Mews have to give a proof of residence of six months before being accepted in their new local clinic. Therefore, they are still registered with the Mews Clinic and this situation can repeat itself.

The numbers attending have been stable (approx. 140) for several years.
