Finglas Village

On this site on the 10th September, I wrote a note on the contents of a meeting I had with Mick Bailey of Beauvale Developments.

“I asked Mick how he could help in the Finglas Village regeneration. He suggests that a CPO is used to assemble the whole site and develop a horseshoe shaped series of neighbourhoods with a Supervalue type supermarket in the centre, as a completely new concept.

As Marumba (the current developers) is defunct, this at least is a new idea which we should investigate.”

‘Drop in Well’, Family Resource Centre

The Drop in Well, Family Resource Centre launched the Strategic Plan 2010 – 2012 today. The Chairman Maria Thompson from Coultry introduced the cast and an overview was given by Valerie O’Carroll who is the co-ordinator.

Minister Pat Carey escaped from the Cutting table to launch the plan. There is no doubt that Pat Carey is competent but not combative. councillors Dessie Ellis and Paul McAuliffe were present in support. The question of moving from an unsuitable flat at 34 Country Road was addressed and it is up to the public representatives to get the move organised. In the Pictures are Maria Thompson and Valerie O’Carroll.

The three cameras at Poppintree Park are live and operational and form part of a network of over 80 cameras that is the Ballymun wide CCTV system.

Smart Recycling on Jamestown Road

There were enforcement problems with dubious waste being processed at this facility which cause great concern to Jamestown Road residents. A plague of flies and insects has made life intolerable all summer and the City Council inspected the place and took them to task.

Today I received this notice from Jackie O’Reilly

To whom it may concern,

I wish to advise you that following a recent inspection of the Smart Recycling Facility in Jamestown Road Business Park it is our opinion that they have ceased trading from this location.

Regards,

Jackie O’ Reilly
