Finglas Area Update June 2010

Estate Management

17 complaints received and 11 interviews took place in the Finglas Area
Office between April and May 2010.

Warrants for Possession:

• Warrant granted for Tenancy in the Berryfield area and a technical
eviction was carried out on 5th May.
• There were 3 applications for exclusion orders before the Courts in
April, 2 in the Hazelcroft area and 1 in Ratoath area, these have been
adjourned until the end June.

Griffith Heights

Work on drainage improvements is ongoing and is scheduled to be completed
in approximately 4 weeks.

The mediation process is continuing and both parties are scheduled to meet
on the 15th June. An update will be issued to the residents after this
meeting.

Kilshane Road

Gates at Kilshane Court have again been vandalised. Tenders are now being
sought for installation of CCTV in the complex.

A number of residents have expressed an interest in growing their own
vegetables. The Area Office has made a number of small raised beds
available on a trial basis. Similar raised beds have also been made
available in Merville Court.

Merville Court.

The electric gates at Merville Court have been vandalised again and will
cost in excess €1,500 to repair.

Fairlawn Road/ Park

Walsh and Associates have been approved to design the Drive way extensions
at numbers 55-94 Fairlawn Road. The design includes 2 infill houses between
74-75 Fairlawn Road. Funding is only available to take the design to Part 8
stage. No funding has yet been identified to carry out the works.
Funding has been made available to construct a boundary wall between
numbers 74-75 Fairlawn Road to close down the open space between the two
houses. As part of these works the Contractor will fit new gates and repair
fencing to the site on Tolka Valley Road behind numbers 75-85 Fairlawn
Road. A meeting between the residents of 75-85 Fairlawn Road is also
scheduled for next week. Following some anti-social behaviour in Fairlawn
Estate a Dublin City Council tenant has abandoned her home.

Ballygall Road East Older Persons Complex

The redevelopment of Ballygall Road Older Persons Complex is unlikely to
take place this year. The project appraisal is with the Department of the
Environment, Heritage and Local Government since October 2008 awaiting
approval. Part 8 planning permission for the project was received in March
2008. 37 apartments are now vacant at this complex.

Small sites in the Finglas Area.

A number of small sites in the Finglas Area are currently causing problems
with anti-social behaviour and serious illegal dumping of domestic refuse.

The Finglas Area Office and Housing Development Department are now
preparing a submission to the Department of the Environment, Heritage and
Local Government seeking funding to build social housing on these sites.
