Israel and Palestine – No Rockets – No Blockade – No illegal

Dear Ms Hughes,

I have a mind to enter an amendment to the motion on the flotilla which
will link condemnation of the reckless attack on the ships in international
waters with a demand to stop that Hamas stop firing rockets from Gaza at
Israelis in recognition of the need for peace. I support the two state
solution in Palestine in recognition of history since 1948. Therefore there
has to be a recognition that violence begets violence. It must be possible
to lift the Gaza blockade and remove illegal settlements in exchange for no
rockets and violence.

Yours sincerely,

Bill Tormey

Subject: DCC: Please support Motions 45 and 52 on Monday 20th Sept

Dear Councillor,

I am writing on behalf of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC)
to encourage you to support Motions 45 and 52 which are tabled for
discussion at the Special Meeting of Dublin City Council due to be held this
Monday 20th September.

*Motion 45,* tabled by Cllr. Críona Ní Dhálaigh, concerns the illegal
Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in international waters this
June, which left 9 international activists dead and saw the seizing of aid
ships bound for Gaza. Although at present some of the text is outdated (as
events have moved on since it was initially drafted) we expect there to be
relevant amendments proposed at the meeting. Just as Dublin City Council
demanded a meeting with then-Israeli Ambassador Zion Evrony in the wake of
the ‘Operation Cast Lead’ assault on Gaza in 2008/09, we believe it is vital
that the Council takes a principled stand in support of the Gaza Freedom
Flotilla and future such humanitarian missions and against Israeli military
aggression on the high seas and the illegal and brutal Siege of Gaza.

*Motion 52,* tabled by the current Lord Mayor Gerry Breen, concerns
exploring the possibilities of twinning Dublin City with Gaza City. The IPSC
believes that such a twinning would be an act of important and genuine
solidarity with the besieged people of Gaza City and the Gaza Strip as a
whole.

Thank you for your time, and we hope you will support both motions.

Yours sincerely,

Freda Hughes
