Harney’s redundancy plan – incompetence beyond all reasonable doubt.
Yesterday, the Health Service Executive announced details of a €400 million plan to fund 5,000 voluntary redundancies from among its 28,000 clerical, administrative and support staff. This is a stupid way to reduce numbers. Again it shows the random nature of government personnel policy. Last month, at my request, the HSE Forum for Dublin Northeast passed a motion recommending to the HSE Board that Lean Studies be carried out on HSE administration structures in hospitals and among senior management. I am unaware of any consequential action and I certainly have had no follow-up information. Thus the unstructured nature of this government redundancy move proves, beyond all reasonable doubt, that Harney and company are incompetent. The nightmare continues for my country. Poor old Ireland.
