Quit Smoking Help

HSE’s You can QUIT Facebook page tops 20,000 members
The HSE’s QUIT Campaign has been live since June 2011 and has seen
some very positive results in its first nine months. The aim of the
campaign is to encourage smokers to quit using personal stories about
the impacts of smoking on smokers and their loved ones.

Since the campaign began, there has been a 130% increase in people
signing up to the online Quitplan, which supports and guides people
through the quitting process and is available on www.quit.ie. The
National Smokers Quitline on 1850 201 203 has also seen strong
increases in call numbers as has free HSE Smoking Cessation clinics
and services nationwide.

The HSE’s ‘You can QUIT’ Facebook page surpassed 20,000 likes in
recent days and has broken new ground for the HSE in providing a quit
support via social media. The page demonstrates how quitters are
coming together to share their positive and negative moments and
supporting each other to make this quit attempt the last one.

Stories from the page, from the National Smokers’ Quitline and HSE’s
free clinics show that it’s never too late to try to quit and that
getting support is the key to success for many.
